So the kickoff post here starts with this blog. We will flesh it out as quickly as possible, but the basics are this: this is a blog about political fundraising, and everything that you need to do to get the dough it takes to win elections. I’m not gonna go into Kos-land, or Coulteria and discuss the merits of many positions. If you must know, I’m a libertarian, and if you must know, I’m not a fan of either of the 2008 major candidates. The propensity for the Republicans to spy and grow a police state worries me, and the propensity for the Dems to regulate everything and grow an easily corruptible bureaucracy worries me just as much.

This Blog is about Getting Money, Not Morality.

There are good reasons for people to support every candidate. This blog is simply put, all about getting money for them. I’m presuming a few things:

We’re running regional or statewide elections

We have limited starting resources (and are bootstrapping)

We have access to the candidate.

We have short milestones and important deadlines to stay in our races.

We don’t always have unlimited time.

That is—simply enough—what I’m assuming is the task put before us. I myself have this task for a third party, conservative independent named Robert Owens. We need 500,000—at a minimum—to be relevant in Ohio. Relevant means we have a shot. We need 1.2-1.4 million to win. We have 15 weeks to get it, and we have 12 weeks to get as much as we can.

I would raise funds for the right democrat or republican. I don’t agree with every position that Owens has. I don’t need to. I do agree with the major issues, ethos, and I get that he’s principled, and wants limited government. He’s an attorney general candidate; his job is to preside over no bid contracts, and to ensure that the State is not doling out political patronage. Our last Governor was horrible. We want someone in there watching out for the people and not the party.

That’s a reason to do this job and do it well. I will lead by example, and document everything that I can do.
